Programmes

Katherine and Sam Haywood have being performing together since 1993, after meeting to play Brahms at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Having both graduated from the Academy with distinctions and several awards, they continue years later to perform extensively throughout the UK together, presenting their imaginative programmes that combine both solo and duo repertoire for both instruments.

Together they have broadcasted on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM and made a CD recording of the Brahms Sonatas and Beethoven Clarinet Trio. Their great enthusiasm for authentic performance practice has led them to collect instruments from all different periods and they use them in their recitals, broadcasts and lectures, including a programme for the BBC entitled “Women in Music in the 19th Century”.

They have commissioned many duo works and a even double concerto from some of Britain’s leading composers which they have premiered in major venues and festivals and on international radio. They are also very much in demand for their entertaining and informative school workshops and informal concerts in the wider community.
