Education Outreach and Teaching

Katherine has been a workshop leader for outreach projects combining music and the community since the early 2000’s working in schools, pupil referral units, care homes, hospitals and teenage mental health hospital units.

Katherine’s participation journey began as the musical director and composer of a year long project in East London Schools to write and perform an opera in collaboration with students from mainstream and special needs schools. She was also Musical Director for a year long project in East London, combining mainstream and special needs schools, composing and recording a Film Score which was premiered at the 2012 Olympics Exhibition in 2005.

Since these early days Katherine has very much enjoyed music workshop leading at numerous special needs school across the country and does long term projects as well as shorter sessions. She works closely with the partners in the projects often combining literacy, science and maths through music.
