Education Outreach and Teaching

Katherine has been a workshop leader for The Courtauld Institute, London, in outreach projects combining music and art since 2006 working in schools, pupil referral units, hospitals and teenage mental health hospital units. Her Artist partner in this important work is renowned Artist Ashley Davies.

Katherine was the musical director and composer of a year long project in East London Schools to write and perform an opera in collaboration with students from mainstream and special needs schools. She was also Musical Director for a year long project in East London combining mainstream and special needs schools, composing and recording a Film Score which was premiered at the 2012 Olympics Exhibition in 2005.

Katherine has very much enjoyed music workshop leading at Newbridge special needs school  and does term long projects at least two times every year since 2002. She is very creative in the projects offered and links literacy through music and dance.

Recently Katherine completed a workshop leading course led by Hertfordshire County Council and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, this has led to varied workshop performances and projects throughout the country. She continues to work as the education director for the Galliard Ensemble and works regularly as a workshop performer and leader for the Age of Enlightenment Orchestra.

Katherine regularly gives Masterclasses in Europe’s leading Universities and Music Colleges including the Welsh College of Music and Drama, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, The Royal Northern College of Music,  Chetham’s School of Music, Lisbon College of Music, Southampton University and the Colchester Institute. In 2005 Katherine realised there was a need for music teaching in the south east, with the focus being regular lessons from a performing teacher, so she founded Music Magic Teaching Agency. She continues to manage private tuition for over 200 pupils on strings, wind, voice and piano in the South East of GB and also provides music teachers to primary schools in Hertfordshire.
